Tier 1 'Learn To Swim Program' is either private or small groups. Lessons are taught by our experienced Tier 1 instructors, headed by Coach Bailey and assisted by Coach Nolan. Click here for their profile. Ages 3 months and older with all skill levels encouraged to sign up.
Private swim lessons are created around individual swimmer needs. There are no levels to advance through. Swimmers grow as individuals, making advances on their own with no pressure or interruption from other swimmers. Coaches encourage swimmers to make advancements during each session, but only advance swimmers to the next level when fully ready.
Small group lessons of 3 or less. There are no levels to advance through. Swimmers grow as individuals, making advances on their own. Coaches encourage swimmers to make advancements during each session, but only advance swimmers to the next level when fully ready.
Advancing Through Levels
Mommy/Daddy And Me (3 months to 2 years old) Mom, Dad or both parents must accompany their child in the water. The course will familiarize children with water and focus on water acclimation.
This level is all about having fun in a safe and controlled environment.
Pre-Level 1 (2 & 4 yr olds) – Acclimate students to the pool and pool safety. Students will become comfortable entering the water without the assistance of a parent.
Level 1 (4 & 5yr olds) – Water Safety: After this session student will be able to jump in, surface on back, swim (scull) across pool and exit pool without help of teacher.
Level 2 (Minis) – Graduates of Level 1 that are 5 & under. Their back swimming skills (safety position) will be enforced as we teach them to roll over onto their stomach into freestyle strokes.
Level 2 (Novice) Graduates of Level 1 that are 6 & Over. Their back swimming skills (safety position) will be enforced as we teach them to roll over onto their stomach into freestyle strokes.
Level 2 (High End) – Graduates of Level 1 that are able to show some appearance of front crawl stroke but cannot breathe bilaterally. To move to Level 3 children must be able to swim 20 yards of bilateral breathing freestyle.
Level 3 (Freestyle/Backstroke Endurance) – Introduces elements of treading water, freestyle, backstroke and diving skills. Building endurance and stamina are key to move to Level 4.
Level 4 (Stroke improvement – Backstroke/Freestyle) Develops technique and builds knowledge in freestyle and backstroke using refinement drills. Level 3 completion required.
Level 5 (Stroke improvement – Butterfly/Breaststroke) Develops technique and builds knowledge in butterfly and breaststroke using refinement drills. Level 4 is not required but many children who do not plan on joining a swim team should have additional help in freestyle/backstroke in that it would be is more beneficial.
